Undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to be involved in research with our faculty and through internships in industry and at national laboratories. The world-class research pursued by our faculty includes state-of-the-art work in artificial intelligence, computer networking, cybersecurity, data science, parallel and distributed systems, software engineering, and theory of computation.
Computer science faculty often collaborate on research with universities around the globe. And as Chicago’s only tech–focused university, Illinois Tech’s computer science department has built strong partnerships with the city's growing tech community to provide off–campus research opportunities. The city’s active tech community hosts regular hackathons, offering Illinois Tech students even more chances to engage in research.
